LEAH WATERS VINING

With over 21 years in sales and marketing with expertise in the healthcare and real estate industries, my journey has led to innovating safety-related products for high fall risk individuals. Following in my Dad’s footsteps, I began my career in real estate at 18 years old. Combining my drive with humility, I earned million-dollar status within my first year. Although I was a successful broker, I was more in love with helping people find their home, the overwhelming happiness and earning my clients’ trust when making such a huge investment. Which leads me to my career in healthcare, another top priority in life. I always had an interest in the medical field because of my genuine love for people and my innate ability to be a good caregiver. The opportunity to delve into the medical field happened when I sold a home to the CEO of a major DME company who was moving to my area and the company needed a territory manager. I was thrilled with the new venture and I decided to enroll in health sciences classes and pre-nursing studies to better understand the field. As the years went by, I had so many great opportunities to witness the good, the bad and the ugly when it came to healthcare which inspired me. I wanted to make things better, even if it was just by a small gesture or act, I wanted to bring a positive change. My passion for better patient care began in early 2000 as a territory manager. Then in 2011, I became an account executive for another large hospital device company where I focused on asset management, cost savings, safe patient handling, early mobility and fall prevention. I LOVED IT! In 2015 my innovative mind went into high gear. As I attended one of the many nursing conferences, just as I had done for over a decade, something clicked. I had taken notes at the conferences on what the hot topics were and began noticing a trend. I listened for years about all the tools and technology that nurses, aides, physicians and providers wished they had to ensure better outcomes for their patients. I listened as hospital directors, executives, and many other decision-makers discussed topics regarding staff and patient satisfaction and the need to control cost while still delivering great care. My ambitious nature fueled my need to become an entrepreneur and an innovator that could change lives. The urgency and need to create the best new technology for patients and providers became more prevalent when I became a caregiver for my Father in 2017. He was suddenly diagnosed with systemic scleroderma which led to kidney failure and he was also diagnosed with soft palate cancer. After days, nights and weeks spent caring for him in the hospitals and also providing home hemodialysis, I was living the reality and realized more than ever what was lacking in the world of medical equipment and the challenges hindering quality care. I am excited to announce our first multi-patented innovation for fall reduction in high-risk patients when bathing and toileting and steadily working on many other solutions to follow.

ROBERT “BOB” RIFE, B.S.

My journey began in 1971 as a Naval Hospital Corpsman where I received my initial Respiratory and Anesthesia training. After discharge from the Navy, I received my AS degree in Respiratory Therapy while working fulltime at Roper Hospital. After graduation and obtaining my credentials, I continued to work and further my education to earn my BS degree.

My background and experience afforded me the privilege to manage pulmonary services as well as other disciplines like cardiology and vascular labs.

To date, I have 49 years of experience working in healthcare. I spent many years as a recognized leader and manager for multiple respiratory care departments and service lines in the low country of South Carolina.

My journey in innovation started in 2004 with hospital-acquired ventilator pneumonia. My first patent was issued in 2009. I always enjoy giving back to grow awareness of the respiratory profession both locally and nationally.

I served as President of the South Carolina Respiratory Society (SCSRC), I am currently a Liaison to DHEC for infection control and many other community boards.

Bob is married with two children and has two grandchildren. He enjoys travel but hard to compare to the amenities in his home in Charleston. Bob is constantly working on new ideas. His motto: Never Stop Inventing!

Bob’s wealth of knowledge in innovation and healthcare combined with Leah’s vision and experience for market needs made for the perfect partnership to bring some of the best innovative tools to life.
